Streaming services in Nigeria are currently enjoying a surge in business, thanks to collaborations with successful actors/ producers. For years, Africa Magic has been on top but with the growing relevance of online contents more stars are uploading their contents directly on the net. Shirley Frimpong Manso, Emem Isong, and Funke Akindele collaborate with iRoko TV regularly to have their series on the streaming services. A new online network on the rise is sceneone.tv Many of us knew nothing about the streaming service but with Funke Akindele’s collaboration with the network, it has gotten the network boost.
These are the reasons we are excited about this collaboration
- The Nigerian Music Industry in Full Perspective: There are many young talents in Nigeria helplessly trying to get into the music industry. Some of them get scammed; others turn to another line of business after trying for too long. The entertainment industry is a risky industry, bad things happen, good things happen too. We see our stars succeed but we hardly know how they struggle to be success stories. With the release of “Industreet” we will have a glimpse into the happenings in the Nigerian music industry. This series can be helpful for every creative soul desperate to get into the Nigerian entertainment industry.
- Funke Akindele is not in a comedic role: “Jenifa” made her famous. She capitalized on its success and created a successful series which is now in its eight season. We know her for her sense of humor but with Industreet we will experience a different Funke. Teasers have been dropping all over and Funke is not a comedian in this one. She didn’t come to laugh with anyone.
- Celebrity Appearances: Many celebrities will be appearing in the series. “Industreet” invites a host of celebrities to create an intriguing series. From the trailer, we see musicians like K Switch, and we are told to anticipate many more. K Switch makes his acting debut with this one and we are willing to experience how good he is.
- It borrows from Empire: Empire inspires this series in every ramification but this is the Africanized “Empire” and we are here for it. Different problems affecting the Nigerian film industry come to play, and like in Empire where Taraji plays the matriarch, Funke Akindele adopts a similar role with Industreet.
- New Music: One of the inspirations “Industreet” takes from “Empire” is the release of new music with every episode. The producers are really proud of this development. With JJC being a successful producer in the Nigerian music scene for over twenty years, we hope that new and inspiring music gets released through this series and we hope “Industreet” becomes the new sensation.
Are you excited about “Industreet”? Why would you want to watch a series about the Nigerian Music Industry? We think this will offer a few lessons on Pop Culture.
