After a six-year hiatus, LCA! is returning to Lagos, bringing African and diasporic cinema back to the heart of the city for three days of film, conversation, music and community.
Running from October 1–3, 2026, at the MUSON Centre in Lagos, this year’s edition is themed “Convivium: In Gathering,” an invitation for filmmakers, audiences and culture lovers to reconnect through stories, ideas and shared experiences.
And perhaps the best part? LCA! 2026 is completely free to attend, although registration is required.
African and Diasporic Cinema Takes Centre Stage
Film remains at the heart of LCA!, with the 2026 programme bringing together a carefully curated selection of features and shorts from Africa and the diaspora.
This year’s films explore themes including migration, memory, identity, belonging, family and the meaning of home, offering audiences different perspectives on experiences that connect people across borders and generations.
Among the films announced for the LCA! 2026 official selection are:
Shine Your Eyes (2020) — directed by Matias Mariani
Never Say Die: The History and Story of Enugu Rangers (2025) — directed by Nze Ed Emeka Keazor
When Nigeria Happens to You (2025) — directed by Ema Edosio
Madu (2024) — directed by Kachi Benson
More films are expected as part of the festival programme.
More Than a Film Festival
While cinema provides the foundation for LCA!, the festival is designed to extend beyond what happens on screen.
The conversations after screenings, new connections between attendees, exchange of ideas and unexpected encounters are all part of the experience. That spirit of community sits at the centre of this year’s “Convivium: In Gathering” theme.
After six years away, the return gives Lagos audiences another space to experience African and diasporic storytelling while connecting with the people and ideas behind the work.
