First Bank of Nigeria has partnered with Visa to launch Visa Signature, a premium card product tailored to Nigeria’s affluent consumer segment.

Announced on May 15, 2026, the new offering is designed to provide high-net-worth individuals, top executives, business owners, and frequent international travelers with enhanced lifestyle privileges, global travel benefits, and exclusive merchant offers through Visa’s worldwide network.

According to the companies, Visa Signature will give eligible customers access to premium experiences across travel, hospitality, dining, retail, and entertainment through Visa Global Benefits and Visa Destination Offers. Cardholders will also enjoy preferential rates, priority services, and curated deals from partner merchants, airlines, hotels, and destinations around the world.

The card supports both local and international transactions, enabling seamless payments across physical and digital channels whether customers are transacting in Nigeria or abroad.

Speaking on the launch, Chuma Ezirim, Group Executive, eBusiness & Retail Products at FirstBank, said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to developing financial products that align with the evolving lifestyles and aspirations of its customers.

“At FirstBank, we are dedicated to creating financial solutions that reflect the evolving lifestyles of our customers. We understand that our premium customers aspire to experiences that reflect their global outlook. Visa Signature is crafted to meet those expectations, offering access to exclusive experiences, global connectivity, and lifestyle privileges that empower our customers to live without boundaries,” Ezirim stated.

He added that the bank remains focused on delivering value-driven products while strengthening its position as a preferred financial partner for Nigerians both locally and internationally.

Also commenting on the partnership, Andrew Uaboi, Vice President and Cluster Head, West Africa at Visa, highlighted the growing sophistication and global spending habits of Nigeria’s affluent consumers.

“Nigeria’s affluent consumers are among the most active and globally connected spenders on the continent. Visa Signature is designed to serve that profile with the depth of benefits and the breadth of acceptance they deserve. We are delighted to work with FirstBank in making this available to the Nigerian market,” he said.

The introduction of Visa Signature marks another expansion of FirstBank’s premium banking and card services portfolio. The bank already offers several Visa products, including Visa Infinite, Visa Gold, Naira Credit, and Visa Prepaid cards, which cater to retail banking customers, online shoppers, and cross-border users.

With the addition of Visa Signature, FirstBank is positioning itself to better serve Nigeria’s growing affluent demographic by providing more personalized and globally competitive banking experiences.

Eligible customers can apply for the card through any FirstBank branch nationwide or via their dedicated relationship managers.

Background Context

Nigeria’s premium banking and card market has continued to grow in recent years, driven by increasing international travel, digital commerce adoption, and demand for exclusive financial lifestyle products among high-income earners. Financial institutions and payment providers have increasingly focused on premium card offerings that combine convenience, security, rewards, and lifestyle benefits to attract affluent customers.
