Get ready for Dognapped, Nigeria’s first live-action animation. The film is set to be in cinemas by the 29th of September, 2017. Initially scheduled for release earlier this year, the family comedy centers on an upcoming comedian (Tope Tedela as Andy) and his talking dog (voiced by Julius Agwu). They go on a roller-coaster ride as they conquer their fears, battle enemies, fall in love and rise to fame. Reminds me of Ratatouille (2007).
Produced by Temilola Adebayo, Dognapped stars Odunlade Adekola (Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo), Lota Chukwu (The Arbitration), FunnyBone, Paul Utomi (Iterum), Wofai Fada (Catch.er), Comedian Ebiye, Brutus Richard (Just Not Married), Olive Amaechi, Aisha Sanni-Shittu, Tunji Centric, Senator and Promise Williams.
The film was written and directed by Kayode Kasum, a cinematographer and animator known for In Time, a short film on a tearful bride expecting her groom. Speaking on Dognapped he said, “I want to base my brand around comedy movies, make people laugh. I enjoy laughing and I know more people in the world today want to laugh.”
The film is a Kay Kas Studios collaboration with Drama King and Reel Laif Productions. Watch the trailer here.
