In a bold move that’s set to transform the African entertainment landscape, two Nollywood powerhouses—Inkblot Studios and Filmhouse Group—have teamed up to launch Kava, a dedicated global streaming platform focused exclusively on Nollywood and African content.
Launching in August 2025, Kava will debut with over 30 premium titles sourced from top creators across Nigeria and the African diaspora. The lineup includes post-theatrical exclusives, genre-spanning blockbusters, and weekly content drops to keep audiences engaged.
Among the highly anticipated titles premiering on Kava are:
-
Alakada: Bad and Boujee – a fresh comedy-drama
-
Owambe Thieves – featuring Nollywood icons Zubby Michael, Odunlade Adekola, and Sola Sobowale
-
What About Us – starring Kuni Remie and Uzor Arukwe
-
House Job – headlined by Erica Nlewedim
But Kava’s ambitions go far beyond streaming. The platform is set to evolve into a home for exclusive originals, giving African storytellers the stage and support to shine.
With Nollywood ranked as the second-largest film industry globally by volume, there’s growing demand—especially from the African diaspora—for authentic, high-quality African stories. As Netflix and Amazon scale back on local originals, Kava steps in to fill the void with a platform built by Africans, for African stories.
The project is powered by two entertainment titans:
-
Inkblot Studios – the first Nigerian studio to ink groundbreaking streaming deals with Amazon Prime and Netflix.
-
Filmhouse Group – operators of West Africa’s largest cinema chain, Filmhouse Cinemas, and home to distribution giant FilmOne Entertainment and FilmOne Studios.
Kene Okwuosa, co-CEO of Kava and CEO of Filmhouse Group, shared:
“Kava is about unlocking opportunity in Nollywood. We’re building more than a platform—we’re creating a career engine for emerging and established African talent.”
Chinaza Onuzo, co-CEO of Kava and head of Inkblot Studios, added:
“Kava is a movement. It’s the world’s invitation to experience the richness of African creativity like never before. We’re not just streaming—we’re setting a new global standard for African storytelling.”
With Kava, Nollywood isn’t just going global—it’s owning the narrative.
