In a recent social media statement, Gideon Okeke, the Tinsel Star, actor and media personality, raised concerns about the portrayal of female content creators who opt to display their bodies while entertaining their audience on various social media platforms.

In a long post on Instagram, Okeke made it clear that he did not approve of what was going on. He also pointed out that there are some female creators who hide their relationships, but reveal certain intimate body parts to the audience.

The actor stated how most people will say things like “my body is my business” or “you can see, but not touch.” He called for a safer internet space, saying we need to create better men. Besides, he noted that everyone has a duty of care towards public space safety.

There was a period where one had to really work for it if he/she wished to catch a glimpse of some aspects. To him, scrolling and swiping were a contrast because of how easily accessible it is now.

Although noting the appeal of the displays, Okeke stressed on the importance of increased security within a digital community. He called upon us to grow up into a society that is built on mutual respect and responsibility, which is contrary to provoking content.

He ended his post with:

“A-Bobby, you remember that year wey be say: to see pant na WORK. You go Labour in Love before you confirm laps sef… but now? JUST SCROLL UP. Or Swipe left. You nor need to zoom anything sef.

“I nor talk say e no fine o! E fine die! But na all of us be Vigilante for these streets. And Na “safer streets” I Dey advocate for…while we attempt to raise BETTER Men. It STILL takes a VILLAGE.

“Wetin be “Imagination” for where SISQO Dey sing “THONG SONG”….? That Thooooooong!
