Buckwyld Media Network and BHM have joined forces to present a series of international showcases that will delve into the rich culture and creativity of Nigeria, the birthplace of Nollywood and Afrobeats. The collaborative effort aims to counter prevailing narratives about Nigeria and Nigerians and provide a platform for the diverse aspects of Nigerian lore, culture, and experiences to flourish globally.

Titled ‘Naija To The World,’ this exciting exhibition will make its debut at the renowned Apollo Theatre in New York City on September 16, 2023, after touring various Nigerian cities, including Lagos, Port Harcourt, Benin, Abuja, and Jos.

The inaugural event will focus on showcasing the cultural stories, music, and related experiences from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Over the past 25 years, the Niger Delta has been a significant source of talent, with 10 out of 20 creative industry talents emerging from the region. Despite contributing over 80% of Nigeria’s GDP, the area has faced struggles in achieving creative and economic success and stability.

The aim of the exhibition is to spotlight the hidden gems of the Niger Delta, highlighting the region’s rich cultural history, as well as its challenges, including issues of neglect, violence, and poverty. Through live curated concerts, exhibitions, films, documentaries, and more, ‘Naija To The World’ seeks to showcase not only the music and film but also the food, fashion, and literature that hail from this culturally significant region.

One of the key objectives is to promote original African storytelling on a global stage. A documentary is also in the works, capturing pop-up events held across Nigeria and parts of New York City. The organizers believe that sharing these authentic narratives will help dispel misconceptions about the Niger Delta and bring its remarkable contributions to the forefront.

With plans to engage at least 10 million fans through pop-up events, talent shows, and community gatherings in historic African communities across America, ‘Naija To The World’ aims to leave a lasting impact. Additionally, approximately 1,500 lucky fans will witness the historic showcase live at the Apollo Theatre, while millions more will be able to experience the event through broadcast partners in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

The creators of ‘Naija To The World’ are passionate about empowering Nigerian talent and fostering their global recognition. The Niger Delta’s resilience and creativity continue to shape Nigeria’s identity and contribute to the nation’s burgeoning soft power on the world stage. Through this initiative, they hope to propel Nigerian talent towards world domination, showing that nothing can deter them from reaching their goals.
