What do they say? Lion no Dey born goat. If you are familiar with the name Niyi Akinmolayan(The Man for The Job, The Prophetess), you would understand that House of Secrets embodies every ideal he has. Elitism, integrity and exceptional creativity.
Almost all the locations are self fabricated, even the train scenes. The psychological thriller’s cinematography raises the standard for films to come and the music compilation is an experience.
In the opening scene, a wheelchair-bound Sarah (Najite Dede) is seen in what appears to be a household environment where she only writes a sassy gossip column about the “couple in the window”.
Soon, it’s time for her PT session but we quickly gather from her doctor’s line of questioning that :
- Sarah has memory loss from a dark period in her life where a top military official kills her husband(Panam) for almost exposing his evil deeds.
- The people she’s with are not her family like they pretend to be. Rather, they are “an altruistic bunch” aiming to nab the top official responsible for Sarah’s predicament before he becomes the first citizen of the country.
- And they can only do that if Sarah recalls the events of and leading to that night
Sarah regains her memory, many other things come to light and the movie climaxes with dashes of cliffhangers that will simultaneously annoy and intrigue you.
Who are the couple in the window? Was Esther a spy?
House of Secrets is a beautiful movie and it rates an 8/10 at XploreNollywood.
