If Timi( Adedamola Adedoyin, then Wale Ojo) were to reflect on his actions, he would pinpoint his initial error as testifying against Sambasa(Chidozie Nzeribe), the town’s terror, believing that the system would appropriately handle him. He(Timi) would then enumerate additional missteps, such as attempting suicide severally after the criminal he testified against retaliated by killing his (Timi’s) wife and daughter.
Now, debates concerning Timi’s assessment of his situation would linger, echoing the arguments Timi had with Elijah while he worked for him as a house manager who is also a devout Christian.
We could try to philosophize Timi’s response to his ordeal away, but in the end, we might find common ground in the popular WAP TV Super Story closing line that says : We are nothing but pencils in the hands of the Almighty Creator.
At least, it was the only way I could make peace with how it seemed Timi only existed to be the answer to Elijah’s needs. When you do watch( you’ll know why you should shortly), and begin to ask yourself some questions, I hope that you do find something to hold on to as like I did as well. Sigh.
From the film’s title and meticulous cinematography to its cohesive storyline, it is evident that BB Sasore values and doesn’t take the audience’s attention for granted.
Through captivating visuals, his tribute to renowned actor Kabiri Fubara who passed away in 2021, Breath of Life explores diverse themes such as faith, religion, philosophy, sex, affluence, existentialism, classism, and immortality, proving that extremes can coexist.
BB Sasore not only induces comedy into this rather sobering flick , but he also makes it alive by posing challenging questions, ensuring that even when answers are elusive, the lingering queries stay with the audience.
“Breath of Life” encourages profound contemplation, especially when connecting the metaphorical significance of the title to the breathing ability that Timi’s lungs gives Elijah and the purpose he rediscovers through his relationship with Elijah.
The film’s impressive quality earned it the privilege of closing the prestigious AFRIFF event, a testament to the well-thought-out and executed production, led by the remarkable cast and distinguished crew, including BB Sasore of Neemsia Films(Before 30, God Calling) Ola Cardoso(D.O.P for The Blood Covenant, God Calling) and Kelechi Odu(production designer for La Femme Anjola)
With a rating of 9/10 from XploreNollywood, “Breath of Life” sets high expectations for the remaining two films in BB Sasore’s 3-picture deal with Prime Video, leaving viewers hopeful for continued satisfaction.
