Delulu: the act of holding unrealistic or overly idealistic beliefs or fantasies
Sue me: I said delulu!
What a typical Gen Z statement, especially in a movie review, but tell me how else do we describe this silly comedy of love?
From randomly running a dispatch errand , Broda Shaggi finds himself locked in a multimillion-dollar showroom when a moi-moi-induced runny stomach causes him to use the toilet for and fall asleep in guess where, that same toilet!
Then, instead of fretting, he decides to enjoy the showroom’s ambiance only to be attacked by none other than Sarah, the showroom’s sales officer, who is also stuck there because she is in charge of preparing her boss’ surprise wedding proposal set to happen the next day.
A surprised Shaggi tackles Sarah back which leads to everything they describe in those Mills and Boons novels of those days- from rolling around on the ground, looking into each other’s eyes to confessing each other’s darkest secrets.
Just kidding. It wasn’t like that.
It was worse!
They even found out that they were, in fact, childhood friends and partners in mischief. What are the chances? The writer’s delulu was drowning vivid imagination. He he😂.Anyways, as that went on , there was the loose mouthed gateman who had unwittingly opened the store up to burglars.
This had Shaggi and Isime switching to ninja mode and subduing the robbers before they could cart away items. Morning came, and the blossoming of the love that started in the showroom.
In the movie poster, there’s a footnote that read: A silly comedic love.
And best believe, Love in a Showroom was exactly that. It felt like watching a prolonged comedy skit with dashes of reality thrown in the mix and it was really good.
The aesthetics and production design were great. The actors were all in their element- maybe Broda Shaggi over acted his role a bit.
Other than that, this movie was a good one. All the fantasy going on made it all the more warming to watch.
Moral lesson: Embrace delulu today!
