It’s a successful beginning of the second half of 2023 with offerings like Survival of Thickest, House of Secrets, and many more, making for excellent forerunners for the second-half-of-2023-releases.
As you are well aware, Nollywood never tires. This coming August, there already are impressive lineups; from Netflix to Prime to the cinemas to keep you thoroughly entertained.
So just scroll down to know when they will be showing and all the other important juicy deets.
Akudaaya
Come August 4-with an array of cast like Shola Shobowale, Bukunmi Oluwashina, Hafiz Oyetoro, Olumide Oworu- the producer of the Akudaaya and one time AMVCA nominee, Olamide Akinmolayan, will be opening the doors of the cinema for you to wonder with him on whether people truly get a second chance at living after their demise.
Jagun Jagun (August 10)
Next but away from the cinemas and at the tip of your Netflix finger is Jagun Jagun by Femi Adebayo.
In an Oduduwa Vikings style, this movie of his will be delivering the lore about the young warlord who has managed to catch himself in his superior’s crosshairs while also fighting for the love of a woman.
It appears Bukunmi Oluwashina has been busy because she also stars in this one alongside Femi Adebayo, İbrahim Yekini Itele, Fathia Balogun, etc.
Mikolo (August 18)
For this one, I don’t know which is the best part. The fact that we are finally getting a Nollywood children’s classic or the fact that it’s coming at the most opportune time- summer holiday time.
Either ways, Niyi Akimolayan’s story about two adventurous siblings is what you need to get you and your wards in the holiday spirits.
Modern woman (August 18)
On 18th August again, we have the number one Nollywood Barbie, Sharon Ooja, in Modern Woman following the story of a woman who becomes a toxic feminist due to a severe setback in life.
Check her, Timini Egbuson, chinonso Arubayi out in cinemas near you for a fresh dose of excitement.
