All Na Vibes, a feature film set in Nigeria and directed by Taiwo Egunjobi (Musomania, In Ibadan), is set for its first ever screening at the upcoming NollywoodWeek Film Festival holding in Paris from the 6th to 9th of May. Set in Ibadan and inspired by real-life events, the urban drama aims to throw light on the exciting but sometimes tragic lives of the youth in today’s Nigeria.
Regardless of crippling social conditions, unceasing strikes, and insecurity, the Nigerian youth remains vibrant and fuelled by optimism (from protesting police brutality in 2020 to building global start-ups and global sounds.) In this light, All Na Vibes does a job of combining Nigerian neorealism and teenage melodrama to serve a story rooted in real experiences.
Written by Isaac Ayodeji and produced by Emiola Fagbenle, the feature follows three out of school teenagers – Abiola, Lamidi and Sade – as they grapple with varied existential crises on what’s next with their lives. Lamidi’s impulsive desire to plan a house party to lighten the mood force the three together. Sade goes missing after the party and the involvement of Sade’s father and the aggressive police force reveals a dark side to Lamidi and tests the friendship and trust the boys share.
Filmed by Omobolaji Opakunbi, the crime drama stars Tope Tedela (as Officer Jack), Jide Kosoko (as Olasupo), Tolu Osaile (as Sade), Molawa Davis (as Lamidi), Tega Ethan (as Abiola), Babatunde Aderinoye and many others.
