Thanks to an unhinged gateman, Sarah, a single, hot, independent female meets Micheal(Bucci Franklin) and Fred( Uzor Arukwe), two people who will become important to her, in an almost Queen Charlotte- King George first-meeting fashion.
And there, the beginning of a good friendship between Sarah and Micheal, then Sarah and Fred, though theirs go a few miles north of friendship.
I mean, funny, but we all have to meet somehow, right?
What will taint these perfect ships is the sudden unsolicited reappearance of Sarah’s abusive and stalker ex-boyfriend, Dare(Daniel Etim Effiong) who also happens to run in the same circle as Fred’s and Michael’s.
As with every abuser, Dare’s having a hard time realizing that Sarah is no longer his victim and Fred and Micheal dates no time in driving that point home.
The drama plays out in a rather predictable fashion but because nothing mega was promised, one will be hardly offended. The acting is top notch. Beverly Naya will never not be a gem. Bimbo Ademoye as Lizzy, her bestie, was just a perfect casting choice.
The dialogue too; just the right amount of nice for the movie’s level. Maybe there were some unnecessary scenes like when Shaggi suggested a tailor to Sarah? Like, from where!
There’s also the sound effects that kept going on even after the fight between Sarah, Micheal, Dare and Fred at Sarah’s house. That one was bad bad. Nah.
Otherwise, The One for Sarah is a good flick that will definitely drag a chuckle or five out of you even if it does nothing else.
It rates a 5/10 at XploreNollywood and is streaming on Netflix
