The Lion King “Generations”, a Walt Disney remake that debuted on July 18, 2019, to commemorate the franchise’s 25th anniversary, has been nominated for the 27th annual WEBBY awards in the category for Best Video: animation, entertainment, media, and branded content.
The Webby Awards, once defined by the New York Times as “Internet’s highest honour “, was established in 1996 at the Web’s infancy, and it is presented by the 2000+ judging body of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS).
This Academy is made up of Executive Members—prominent online experts, corporate leaders, luminaries, visionaries, and creative celebrities—and Associate Members, who have previously won Webby Awards or been nominated for them as well as other Internet specialists.
The Webby Award and the Webby People’s Voice Award are given to each category in the Webby Awards and the IADAS members choose the Webby Award Winners as well as the Nominations for both awards in each category.
In the spirit of the open Web, The Webby People’s Voice is awarded by the voting public and the Lion King Generations as a nominee, is eligible to win it.
Voting for the Webby Awards and the Lion King Generations franchise is open to the public through April 20th at vote.webby awards.com.
On April 25, 2023, winners will be announced and celebrated during a gala event at Cipriani Wall Street and they will have the chance to give one of the renowned 5-Word speeches from the Webby Awards.
