I came across a conversation on X (formerly Twitter) raving about a movie, emphasizing its significance for everyone to watch at least once. Intrigued, I went on YouTube because, why not?
This short film, which premiered on October 16, 2023, is a creation of the Ebony Life Creative Academy (ELCAShorts). It follows the intricate journey of a mathematical genius whose inadvertent actions lead to a global descent into madness. Left as the sole remaining sane individual amidst the chaos, he grapples with overwhelming guilt while confronting the harrowing isolation that accompanies his unique situation. His very survival depends on his ability to confront and resolve the inner turmoil plaguing him.
Trust me, this movie is a must-watch—the ending will leave you astonished.
Initially, I pictured an apocalyptic African adaptation, but the movie surpassed my expectations. Dimeji, the central character, delivered an exceptional performance, surpassing all standards.
Jimeto Onyedika, one of the directors, described the movie as “The Last Sane Man in Lagos,” delving into the conflict of “Person vs. Self.” It deeply explores the isolation and solitude in our lives.
This film isn’t just entertainment; it’s a profound dive into the human psyche, urging viewers to reflect on emotions and experiences.
