Recent news has brought attention to the Nollywood movie industry, and it is quite sad to see the living conditions of so many Nollywood veterans. In response to this news, The Golden Movie Ambassadors Association of Nigeria (TGMAAN) has taken a stand to address the welfare concerns of Nollywood veterans, ensuring timely interventions to support and uplift those who have dedicated their lives to the Nigerian film industry. This promising development was announced during the association’s Executive Summit held last week Saturday, in the vibrant city of Ibadan.
The Executive Summit served as a platform for passionate discussions about various pressing issues in the entertainment industry. However, the focus of the day revolved around the welfare of Nollywood veterans, a matter that has increasingly gained attention and concern in recent years. The presence of esteemed Nollywood personalities, including the iconic Dr. Joke Muyiwa, the talented Hafiz Oyetoro, the renowned Saidi Balogun, the versatile Kunle Afod, and many more, further emphasized the significance and seriousness of the event.
During the summit, TGMAAN not only engaged in extensive deliberations but also unveiled their plans to shoot a special movie as an endowment for their oldest association member, Pa Kola Olaiya, who recently celebrated his 77th birthday. This remarkable gesture is just the beginning of the association’s comprehensive welfare interventions for veteran practitioners. It was further revealed that TGMAAN has several more interventions in the pipeline, demonstrating their commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of Nollywood veterans across the board.
The decision to prioritize the welfare of Nollywood veterans is an essential step forward for the industry. These veterans have dedicated their lives to creating exceptional films that have not only entertained audiences but also played a pivotal role in shaping Nigerian cinema. However, in recent years, reports of financial struggles, health challenges, and neglect have raised alarm bells within the industry and among fans. TGMAAN’s proactive approach to intervene and uplift these veterans is a commendable initiative that will undoubtedly have a far-reaching impact on their lives and the industry as a whole.
This is a great development, and we are looking forward to the positive impact it will make in the lives of Nollywood veterans. Great job, TGMAAN!
