Episode 2 & 3 #RHOAbuja, have gone by without any major thoughts on the lavish lifestyles of the ladies of Abuja. Episode 2 had me in stitches as Princess kept on driving home the fact that she knows Arafa, a total Laura and Chioma moment that after a while became old. Note to everyone out there, there are different types of friends, intimate, social and acquaintances. That we see often and we say ‘sup’ once in a while, doesn’t make us intimate or social friends oh! We can be acquaintances and trust me, there is nothing wrong with that.
In keeping with the Real Housewives tradition (not sure who made this the tradition), in episode 2, it was Arafa’s turn to have the girls over for a “drag-themed party.” They tried to stir up a rukus on who got an invite or not, but that fell flat, then there was the other conversation about drag and then angel and demons theme (#coveringeyes), I am just baffled that there is time for this exchange but it is, reality tv, so!
If there is anything these women know how to do, is dress! I applaud that and the fact that makeup artists and costumiers are earning a living from this show. What you will not envision is someone wanting to talk your ears off and that is Princess Jecoco, for you. She can turn up, but she can also talk sha!
Episode 3 saw the ladies pull up for Tutu Pie’s lingerie or slumber party, not sure which one, but I was like Party again? Do these ladies actually work? (LOL)! Would like to get names of these locations in Abuja as they do look good, I hope it is not just the aesthetics.
The ladies settle in their rooms, are appreciative of Tutu organization skills and then from nowhere, Tutu throws a tantrum, that the crew edits out! Why are we watching if your editing skills cuts out the drama that is the main reason we are watching???
The young lady is pacified, gets the room that Comfort felt she got cause the host understands her and everything feels fine and dandy.
The themed party looks and feels good, the ladies are dressed to the nines with Princess and Samatha, looking pretty. I like that the host Tutu didnt over do the make-up, the make-up artists #menene!
In comes Jaaruma and her assistant, and i am like this script writer and production crew ehen! I am sure the idea of having Jaaruma was to bring that much needed drama we were looking for, but there is organized drama and chaos, this was full fledged chaos that i feel, in their review meeting it would go, did we hit or miss with this. It was a total miss.
First, Jaaruma to me isnt a sex therapist, but if we are giving her the benefit of the doubt, then she should have been told to speak on sex, we honestly don’t care about your controversy. Her assistant was just off, showing dildos, sister it’s not a big deal. How do we use it, how do people get stimulated by it, educate if that was the aim but dont bring it out and point it, like we should be in awe!
At the end, the weave-flinging drama is yet to commence after 3 episodes and while I honestly didn’t expect much from this bunch, I think it is food for thought that these franchises do not need to be replicated in all states and countries.
