Award winning actress turned producer, Ijeoma Grace Agu, is set to release For My Girls. The film, an IrokoTV collaboration with House5 Production, was written by Jennifer Nkemdilim and directed by Daniel Oriahi. The director is known for Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo, the Nigerian comedy drama selected at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
The trailer for For My Girls tells of a physically abused daughter (telling by an eye-patch), an expectant mother, and a machete-wielding chase. The producer and co-star, Ijeoma Grace Agu, is known for her roles in Just Not Married (as Hauwa) and Love Lost (as Lola). Her first actor’s contract was a minor role in a stage play, The Return Of The Golden Sword, produced by Tina Mba. She had her first lead role in Misfits (2013), a film also directed by Daniel Oriahi. In 2014, her performance in Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo won her the Most Promising Actress at the Best of Nollywood Awards.
For My Girls stars Blessing Onwukwe (Dance to my Beat), Stan Nze (Stormy Hearts), Kemi Lala Akindoju (Ajuwaya, Royal Hibiscus Hotel), Kelechi Udegbe (Uncloaked), Ijeoma Grace Agu, Andrea Chika Chukwu (Bankers NGR), and Eloho Festus (Happy Birthday, Dad). The film was shot by Adeoluwa Owu and will be released on IrokoTV platforms. The release date hasn’t been announced.
