Wives on Strike was a pleasant surprise early last year with the way it highlighted social ills. The writer, director, and producer – Omoni Oboli, has released the trailer to it’s sequel, Wives on Strike: The Revolution. I love sequels like these (e.g. The Wedding Party: Destination Dubai) where everybody’s waiting for another cinegasm that comes with a money-well-spent feeling.
Omoni Oboli is a multi-award winning actress and filmmaker whose writing credits include screenplays for Being Mrs. Elliot, The Duplex, and (despite the screening brouhaha) Okafor’s Law. According to what we know, Wives on Strike: The Revolution is Omoni’s fifth production as a director and the star studded feature will be released on the 29th of December.
“Our favourite local market women team up again to solve another problem. Domestic violence has hit close to home and the women must engage the government or become the government. The situation, it seems, is impossible to ignore. Twists, drama, frustrations and schemes makes this tug of war a hilarious revolution. Will the society survive another wives on strike episode?”
Shot by The Wedding Party’s Akpe Ododoru, Wives on Strike: The Revolution stars Sola Sobowale, Uche Jombo, Kenneth Okonkwo, Chioma Akpotha, Odunlade Adekola, Toyin Abraham, Julius Agwu, Afeez Oyetoro, Ufuoma McDermott, Sani Danja, Elvina Ibru, Chigurl Omeruah, Omoni Oboli, and Emeka Okoye.
