Excess Luggage has been selected to screen in Toronto at the Nollywood Travel Film Festival from 14 – 16 September, 2017. The Nollywood Travel Film Festival is an initiative to promote films by Nigerians all over the world to new and existing global audiences. The aim is to create new market places for Nigerian cinema.
The FilmFest also aims to showcase the best films ever made in Nigeria, while opening platforms and markets for filmmakers, Nigerian music, comedy and tourism.
Directed by Damijo Efe Young (Escape From Home), Excess Luggage is the comedic but compelling story of Douglas and Eyinnaya, two cousins separated by physical distance and financial status. The story presents IK Ogbonna and Queen Nwokye as a hilarious couple, and Mike Ezuruonye and Nikky Ufondu (who play Mr and Mrs Douglas) as a ‘serious’ wealthy couple.
Eyinnaya and his family would visit the Douglas and insist on living an archaic life. Sadly it’s what they understand best in the 21st century. In return, Douglas and his family would fight to maintain the sanity and serenity of an estate long inherited. Voices would rise, doors would be slammed, sacred places would be violated, but in the long run, love would be found in unbelievable places and both families would come to realize that true happiness does not lie in rags or riches.
Produced by IK Ogbonna (Wrong Selfie) and Grace Edwin Okon, Excess Luggage stars Queen Nwokoye, Mike Ezuruonye, Shaggy Bello, Fred Amata, Lisa Omoriodon, Denrele Edun, and Ebinabo Annie.
