Well, the first two projects from the stables of Mo Abudu Films – Iyawo Mi and Her Perfect Life are scheduled to screen at the Cannes Film Festival, the biggest Film festival in the industry.
‘Her Perfect Life,’ and ‘Iyawo Mi,’ according to THR will look at “mental health issues from a Nigerian perspective. Her Perfect Life which will star South African actress Pearl Thusi as Onajite Johnson Ibrahim, a 30-something woman who appears, to have the ideal life — a flourishing career, a loving husband and two bright and beautiful children — but is secretly suffering from depression and contemplating suicide.
While ‘Iyawo Mi” looks at mental health among poor. It features Lateef Adedimeji and Bolaji Ogunmola. The latter a young married man whose wife has had a mental breakdown and has begun to hallucinate, screaming at their children and neighbors and threatening to kill everyone around her. Kunle (Adedimeji) tries to take matters into his own hands, with tragic consequences.
According to the Media Mogul, “We believe that through our work, we can ignite conversations and spark positive change, while paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable world.”
Iyawo Mi and Her Perfect Life will screen in the Cannes Short Film Corner, an industry section of the Cannes festival intended to highlight new directing talent, later this month. Both have also been invited to the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, which runs in August from 4-12.
