The vibrant city of Lagos is set to come alive once again as the Lagos Fringe Festival 2025 returns for its 8th edition, scheduled to take place from November 18 to 23, 2025, at Freedom Park, Lagos.
This year’s theme — “Hybrid Identities: Merging Boundaries” — invites artists, filmmakers, and creative entrepreneurs to explore how art, technology, and culture converge to shape the future of human expression.

The festival, organized by PAWSTUDIOS Africa, continues to be one of Africa’s leading multi-disciplinary arts platforms, bringing together voices from across the continent to innovate, collaborate, and reimagine the creative experience.

A Festival Where Art Meets Technology and Identity

Lagos Fringe 2025 will explore the evolution of hybrid creativity — where culture meets code, and tradition blends with transformation. Through performances, installations, workshops, and conversations, the festival challenges artists to blur boundaries and create from the intersection of self, society, and science.

Here’s what audiences can look forward to:

1. Lagos Fringe Ideas-Xchange

At the heart of this year’s event is the Lagos Fringe Ideas-Xchange, a cross-disciplinary space for collaboration, dialogue, and creative exchange.
The series will feature panel discussions, networking sessions, live showcases, and artist talks that bridge the worlds of film, theatre, music, and tech.

Key conversations will explore:

  • The future of Africa’s creative economy,

  • The role of AI in storytelling,

  • Sustainable production practices, and

  • Cross-border collaboration in shaping the continent’s cultural narrative.

2. Creative Tech Workshop Series

This year’s Creative Tech Series highlights how innovation is reshaping artistic creation across industries:

  • AI and Film Workshop (by Olamide Jolaoso): A hands-on exploration of how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing storytelling, post-production, and distribution in film.

  • Digital Craft: 3D Printing Masterclass (by Film Anatomie): Learn how 3D printing is transforming prop-making, costume design, and theatre production through futuristic craftsmanship.

  • AI and Fashion Workshop (by AIStudio.Ng): Where fashion meets futurism — exploring AI-assisted design, digital fabrics, and machine learning’s impact on global fashion aesthetics.

3. Visual Arts Exhibition

The Lagos Fringe Visual Arts Exhibition will feature a stunning collection of paintings, mixed media, sculptures, photography, and digital installations from emerging and established African artists.
The exhibition will interpret the theme “Hybrid Identities” through diverse lenses — exploring how technology, culture, and identity coexist in a rapidly changing world.

4. Film Screenings & The Inaugural Lagos Fringe Film Awards

The Fringe Film Showcase returns with a curated selection of short films, documentaries, and experimental works from across Africa and the diaspora — highlighting stories of identity, innovation, and resilience.

In a major milestone, the festival introduces the first-ever Lagos Fringe Film Awards, celebrating excellence and innovation in African and diaspora cinema.
Award categories include:

  • Best Short Film

  • Best Film with Female Representation

  • Best African Story

  • Best Experimental Film

  • Audience Choice Award, and more.

The Film Awards Ceremony will close the festival with live performances, retrospectives, and appearances from leading voices in film, media, and culture — cementing Lagos Fringe’s place as a global creative hub.

5. The Full Festival Experience

Beyond film and workshops, the festival promises a week-long celebration of art and culture through:

  • 🎭 Theatre Performances: Immersive plays blending innovation, social commentary, and traditional storytelling.

  • 💃 Dance Battles: Electrifying showcases celebrating Lagos’ rich dance heritage.

  • 🎶 Music & Fringe Nights: Live concerts, spoken word sessions, DJ sets, and the crowd-favorite Y2K Party, bringing creatives and culture lovers together.

  • 🛍️ The Fringe Market: A lively marketplace for artisans, designers, and entrepreneurs showcasing sustainable fashion, handmade crafts, skincare, and art collectibles.
