Coming to cinemas soon is Kunle Afolayan’s courtroom drama, Tribunal, set to be released on the 28th of July, 2017. The African Magic Films and Golden Effects Pictures collaboration was commissioned by Multichoice alongside Omugwo and the grief-fueled Roti.
Written by Tunde Babalola (October 1) and shot by Nodash, the upcoming feature revolves around Jimi Disu – a washed-up lawyer now in his 50’s who helped co-establish a leading law firm in Lagos many years ago. Unfortunately he lost his sense of direction after being hit by a series of personal challenges.
He subsequently becomes a charge and bail lawyer with no further ambition. Later he’s approached by a young, enthusiastic, law school graduate to help defend an albino who has been unfairly relieved of his duties at work. This gives Jimi a chance to battle his old law firm.
Produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan, Tribunal stars Bimbo Manuel (Resilient), Nobert Young (Alan Poza), Omotola Jalade Ekeinde (Alter Ego), Carol King (North East), Funsho Adeolu (The Antique), Ade Laoye (Hush – Series), and Damilola Ogunsi. Kunle Afolayan is a multiple award winning actor and filmmaker known for Irapada (2006), The Figurine (2009), Phone Swap (2012), October 1 (2014), and The CEO (2016).
Fingers remain crossed for the official trailer and eventual debut.
