The spotlight will once again circle around comedian Jimmy Kimmel who will take centre stage at the 2024 upcoming 96th Oscars. This is the fourth time that Kimmel will host one of Hollywood’s most distinguished events, according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Los Angeles.
According to the academy’s release, Kimmel stated, “for as long as I could remember, I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times.” Johnny Carson holds the record with 5 hosting appearances, followed by Billy Crystal with 9, and Bob Hope with an astonishing 11 times as hosts, surpassing all others in Oscar history.
The 96th Oscars are scheduled for screening on March 10, 2024. They air on ABC owned by the Walt Disney Company and are relayed globally through different transmission channels.
As far as Kimmel’s mastery of hosting goes, his star glistened spectacularly during the 95th Oscars at the Dolby Theater last March. His focus was on the resurrection period of theatre after surviving the harsh times of COVID-19. His back-to-basics show effort was part of the rebirth of the industry and he got an Emmy nomination as proof of how good he was at hosting the 95th Oscar.
Famous for the position of hosting by Jump and as executive producer of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Kimmel was on the stage of Oscars in the years 2017, 2018, and 2022, he used his wit and hum to bring life to the 89th, 90th, and 95th Oscar award show respectively.
The return of Kimmel for the fourth time as the Oscars’ host brings memories back for many fans. He remains one of the favourite host for Hollywood awards ceremonies.
