When a government official, Dr. Arzika (Sani Mu’azu), is about to be exposed for fraud, he goes for the kill one more time and steals another $13.9 million.
No one can do anything to him if he settles with his colleague, Ted Lugard (Fares Boulos), and makes a clean exit in 24 hours.
So, what does he do now? He enlists the assistance of James (Kunle Remi), a security detail expert in situations like these, Ivie (Enado Odigie), his account officer, Deji (Efa Iwara), his P.A, to whom he intends to leave his warped legacy, and Nnenna (Kiki Omeili), the hotel manager whose hotel will be the location for this clandestine operation.
Unbeknownst to him, Ivie and James are already aware of his scheme and are only playing along so they can steal the stolen funds from him- for the greater good.
Ted Lugard, his cohort, has a similar plan and his inside woman is Nnenna.
Not long after, allegiance shifts, and dead bodies start to pop up, and these bags of money keep changing hands but in the end, by sheer providence, it ends up in Ivie’s hands.
If there is anything Hide & Seek delivered on, it was living up to its name.
For most parts of this movie, I found myself seeking clarity and justification for why some characters were present.
Take, for example, the tech sis. I believe she was supposed to add an element of technological interest to the plot, but all she did was start the hotel’s blackout. That’s about it for her wow factor. Why bother, then?
Then, the actors. Sigh. With the exception of Bimbo Ademoye and Akah Nani, who, while being comedic reliefs, kept the speed of their characters up till the end, the rest of the cast was just blowing hot and cold, lol.
Hide and Seek was a stressful watch and it rates 4/10 on XploreNollywood
