The Africa Movie Academy Awards, popularly known as AMAA and The AMA Awards, held it’s 13th edition on the 15th of July, 2017. The annual event was attended by numerous media representatives, celebrities, politicians, journalists, actresses and actors. Hosted by Nse Ikpe-Etim (Fifty, Stalker, The Visit), the prestigious event held at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos State.
The AMA Awards are held to recognize, honour and promote excellence in the African movie industry. It also serves to unite the continent through arts and culture. The highest winners were Félicité (with 6 awards), Vaya (3 awards) and ’76 (3 awards). Félicité is a Grand Prix award-winner directed by Alain Gomis (Aujourd’hui, L’afrance) starring Véro Tshanda Beya Mputu, Gaetan Claudia, and Papi Mpaka.
