FirstBank, West Africa’s premier financial institution and a pioneer in digital banking innovation, has announced a historic achievement—crossing the ₦1 trillion mark in cumulative instant digital loan disbursements. This remarkable milestone underscores FirstBank’s strategic focus on financial inclusion, technology-driven lending, and customer empowerment.
Since launching its first digital loan in August 2019, FirstBank has built an advanced, AI-powered lending ecosystem that removes traditional barriers to finance. With no collateral, zero paperwork, and fully automated processing, the bank’s digital lending platform caters to both high-risk and underserved customer segments—including salary earners, informal workers, and microbusiness owners.
Through its suite of lending products—FirstAdvance, FirstCredit, and AgentCredit—over 1.5 million unique borrowers have gained instant access to funds. Customers can conveniently access these loans via multiple digital channels, including USSD (*894#), FirstMobile, LitApp, and the FirstMonie Agent App.
Chuma Ezirim, Group Executive, e-Business & Retail Products, commented:
“This ₦1 trillion achievement highlights our dedication to innovation and customer-centricity. It’s not just about numbers—it’s about enabling financial independence and supporting the dreams of millions across Nigeria and beyond.”
He added that the bank remains committed to bridging the financial gap for excluded and underserved communities while ensuring robust risk management across its digital platforms.
Currently disbursing ₦1 billion daily in digital loans, FirstBank is setting a benchmark for financial inclusion and digital transformation in Nigeria. With continued investments in advanced technologies and tailored financial solutions, the bank is actively building a more inclusive, empowered future for individuals and businesses alike.
