Excess Luggage, starring Mike Ezuruonye and Ik Ogbonna, has been selected to screen at the West African Film Festival (WAFF) in Houston, Texas. The event will run from February 1-15, 2018, presenting films that are either from the region, by West African artists, or are about the life and culture of West Africa.

Through WAFF, Houstonians will discover the beauty and rich heritage of West Africa, the talent of its people, and power of the film arts to educate, entertain, and celebrate the human experience. WAFF will screen those films that provide insight into the complexity and diversity of the region and that give the viewer realistic perspectives on the people, culture, art, history, and politics.

Excess Luggage (released last year at the maiden edition of the Nollywood Travel Film Festival) tells of how two cousins separated by physical distance and financial status reunite with raised voices and slammed doors. Produced by IK Ogbonna and Nikky Ufondu, the film is a comedic but compelling story trying to emphasize that true happiness does not lie in rags or riches.

Excess Luggage was directed by Damijo Efe Young and the cast includes Queen Nwokoye, Shaffy Bello, Fred Amata, Lisa Omoriodon, Denrele Edun, and Ebinabo Annie. See the trailer below.
