It’s no news that it’s Shondaland and we are all just living in it.
Right now, the next level of torture for Shonda, after putting us through emotional wringers with the main Bridgertons movie are the Easter eggs.
They are scenarios that Shonda Rhimes hides right under our noses and leaves us to decode. I point out six of them below.
Brace yourself.
- Julia Quinn As A Cast in Queen Charlotte
It’s the fact that she was referenced twice in the movie gets me all the time.
The first time was in episode 5 of Queen Charlotte- right after the birth of the first heir, and before Lady Danbury and Adolphus walk by. If you stop reading right now and check, you’d see a woman seated beside a young man on the park bench. That’s her. Julia Quinn. In flesh and blood; hiding in plain sight. Then in Season 2 Episode 1, Anthony had a list of debutantes he was crossing out one by one.
One of the names read “Lady Julia- a romantic” and the one after it read “Miss Quinn- an exceptional writer” subtly referencing the author on whose books The Bridgertons are based. Are you surprised? Wait till you read number two.
2. The Identity of Lady Whistledown
The truth is that Lady Whistledown’s identity was hinted at right in the beginning- like Season 1 Episode 1- where Penelope was holding a quill!
Make no mistake, we appreciate all the FBI skills you put into decoding the identity of Lady Whistledown, but it is essential to know that if it took you later than two episodes in season 1 to figure it out, you definitely belong in the fiddled-by-Shonda queue.
Perhaps, a glass of Zobo for that burn?
3. Then, the wisteria at the Bridgertons house was from Violet Ledger
We see into the life of Viscountess Bridgerton as a young lady- Violet Ledger whose headpiece always seems to contain wisterias. She obviously carried her fondness for them to her matrimonial home.
4. “If I Ain’t got you” by Alicia Keyes, the song played at the comeback event for the Parliament Saga is the same song that was played during one of Kate and Anthony’s ball
Now you get why the Queen looked wistful in that scene of Anthony and Kate dancing. It was the memory of her and King George’s comeback event from the Parliament saga that came rushing back. Poor Charlotte.
5. Queen Charlotte’s Outdated Wardrobe
Could Queen Charlotte’s retro choice of outfit be because she’s trying to remain as close as possible to how things were before George lost his grip on reality? I might as well stop right here before I lose it but I promised you six Easter eggs😭.
What kind of woman would I be if I didn’t keep my word? Let’s have one more.
6. Queen Charlotte and Emeralds
Now, guess where The Queen wore emeralds in the entirety of The Queen Charlotte prequel- the scene where she hid with the King under the bed!
Which of these Easter eggs took you aback? Which ones have you spotted too? Hit me!
