When Crazy People popped up on my Prime Video recommendations, I initially thought it would be your typical comedy, especially with Chigul in the cast (no offense, sis 🥹 – you’ve got impressive range!). However, much to my surprise, Crazy People unfolds as a distinctive tale exploring mental health, delicately blending humor and insight. Within minutes, I realized I was investing my time wisely.
The plot revolves around Alfred (played by Benjamin Touitou), a committed schizophrenic, who becomes ensnared by Lucy (Chigul), a psychopathic author. Lucy
Lucy embeds herself in the lives of her subjects and manipulates them into living as characters from her books by warping their realities.
In Alfred’s case, Lucy had checked herself into his mental clinic and taken advantage of his condition to manipulate him into believing that he( Alfred) is Ramsey Nouah and that the real Ramsey Nouah had been impersonating him.
Before long, she succeeds and takes it up a notch by plotting her and Alfred’s escape to avail herself full control over his mind. .
So here we are, two crazy people on the loose- one looking for Ramsey Nouah and the other actively manipulating the first to not stop looking for Ramsey Nouah-his impostor.
As this went on, the real Ramsey Nouah remained oblivious to being a person of interest to the two unhinged individuals but fortunately for him , Lucy and Alfred are apprehended before causing harm.
From the get-go, I wondered where Crazy People had been hiding. The casting, featuring the likes of Kunle Afolayan in noteworthy guest appearances, was a mind-blowing phenomenon. The film earns a solid 7/10 from Xplore Nollywood – a must-watch! Prime Video might be onto something with this trend of premiering older movies. Ahn ahn.
My first thought settling into this flick was, where has this movie been? The casting sef was another mind blowing phenomenon. As in, the likes of Kunle Afolayan, all just casually making guest appearances to deliver the best impressions of themselves at work. Casually o.
Crazy People is a masterpiece and XploreNollywood rates Crazy People a solid 7/10.
Yes, you should absolutely see it!
PS: Prime Video may just be onto something with this new practice of premiering old movies! They may be into something!
