The fact that this is coming when I was just thinking about us discussing movies that should absolutely get remakes, with Color Purple being top five and not just first five.
The creators must have been found shaking in dread of the strongly worded appeal that would have hit their desks on a request for this movie. 😌

For the unfamiliar amongst us, Color Purple is a story about an African-American woman, Celie, living in the American South during the early 20th century, enduring abuse from both her father and husband.
It was first released in 1985 after it was adapted from Alice Walker’s novel in 1982 by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg.
This remake which is taking a tasteful spin to become a musical has the duo credited as its driving force and it sees TV sweetheart, Halle Bailey starring as young Nettie instead of Akosua Busia, Taraji P.Henson as Shug Avery instead of Margaret Avery, Fantasia, American Idol winner as Celie instead of Whoopi Goldberg and many characters getting changed.
Color Purple 2023 hits international screens starting on January 18, 2024 but will be be released December 25, 2023.
