From the producer of the delightfully interesting Mr. and Mrs. (2012) comes a sequel – Mr. and Mrs. Chapter 2. Produced by Chinwe Egwuagu and directed by Teco Benson (Two Brides and a Baby), the new romantic drama has been described as a journey into the anatomy of modern family relationships.
It tells of a couple, Sharon (Rita Dominic) and Kobi (Chidi Mokeme), who in a bid to save their union, expose some of the truths surrounding struggles and independence in marriage.
The lead roles have been revamped, replacing Joseph Benjamin (Desecration) and Nse Ikpe-Etim (Fifty) with Chidi Mokeme (’76) and Rita Dominic (AMVCA award winning lead actress for ‘76). The movie is to be in cinemas by April 21, 2017, and stars Tana Adelana, Akin Lewis, Yaw, and Munachi Abii (Ex-MBGN).
In 2012, Mr and Mrs. (directed by Ikechukwu Onyeka) had a successful run at the cinemas in both Nigeria and Ghana, becoming one of the highest selling Nollywood films. It got nominated at the 2013 Nollywood Movie Awards for the Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Editing, and Best Costume design.
On if this production would be as successful as the first, Chinwe Egwuagu said, “When we did Mr and Mrs in 2011, we did not know it would command so much goodwill…This is the same thing we have done for the Chapter two which is why we are confident that Mr and Mrs Chapter Two will surpass the success of the first one”.
