Former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are set to executive produce a 10-episode animated music series to teach civic education to children.
Titled We The People, reports confirm that the project will centre on educating young children about governance and the government.
Co-executive produced by Kenya Barris and Chris Nee, the series has been described as “an exuberant call to action for everyone to rethink civics as a living, breathing thing, and to reframe their understanding of what government and citizenship mean in a modern world.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda, Janelle Monáe, Andra Day, Adam Lambert, HER, Amanda Gorman and more will perform pieces across 10 episodes of the new series.
We The People debuts on Netflix July 4, 2021.
