I had basically said in my last post that the NMA’s organized by Nollywood Movies Sky 329 needs to put its back into creating an awards that will stand the test of time and when I say stand the test of time, I am not talking about its selected categories or their nominees list or the glitz and glam that they feel would be associated with an award ceremony but having a properly directed or produced ceremony that will leave us saying OMG, that was a show.  I attended the second edition of the Nollywood Movie Awards NMA, and after waiting for 2hours for the ceremony to start,…

I like to think of myself as a Nollywood advocate and as such, everything Nollywood, has just recently become my business! One of the reasons I went into blogging on Nollywood was to see that visible and dramatic change in the Nigerian Movie industry like what we are currently witnessing in our Nigerian Music industry and entertainment in general. The music guys have basically taken over and even though some people will disagree that they are at par, I obviously beg to differ. The Nollywood Movie Awards (NMA) is our new entrant into awards ceremonies and unlike the AMVCA and AMAA,…

Is she thinking better production quality, casting or script writing, because I am kind of confused, because churning out movies every other month or so is the direction I believe Nollywood should be leaving behind. ‘Lies Men Tell’ is yet another drama sketch from the stables of Uche Jumbo productions. While it is about 3different couples and the lies their husband’s tell, the main characters are Desmond…

The Theme Song for the African Cup of Nations tournament which was held in South Africa this year, introduced D’banj to a much wider African audience and stage. I was greatly ecstatic at this and wondered how it was going to sound. Now even though Shakira and K’naan theme songs were for the World cup (a larger and more global audience), both songs had videos that resonate around football and the tournament, a path I believe dbanj should have towed, especially since the tournament had ended and we won, there must have been tonnes of footage from the team he could have…

Nigeria’s soul singing sensation Omawunmi Megbele just recently launch a video from her Lasso of Truth Album titled “Warn Yourself.”Probably shot somewhere in SA, Omawunmi looks like she is having fun in the video and i totally dig her energy. After first viewing, the video is entertaining, but after watching it a second time, it comes across as dark especially during the chorography scene, where she is wearing black and the background is black as well and if not for the bright colour outfits of the other dancers, i cant make out their faces. But it was aiirite, i love…

As people look out for who wore what at the on-going TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), our very own Nigerian Writer Chimamanda Adichie’s book ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ gets adapted to a film and premiered there! Having read the book, I dare say that it was thought provoking and insightful, I recall thinking, how old can Chimamanda possibly be to be able to tell the Civil war story carefully and creatively like she had been a part of it. As a fan of novels converted to books, I am seriously looking forward to its premiere in Lagos and I hope, its truly…
