Abiodun Jimoh, renowned director and writer( Somewhere in the Dark, Wetin Women Want) has taken to his Instagram to shower praises on Veteran actor, Antar Laniyan.
In what seemed like a mini graduation party for his trainees, Biodun, whose works have raked in more than a couple of AMVCA awards in the past expressed his excitement at getting to host the legendary Antar.
He put up a clip from the event where he was expressing gratitude to Antar Laniyan and his post caption read:
“I witnessed an event in 2006 where veteran actors and actresses were on set, they were talking, joking, and laughing. Some even sang. It was like a gyration circle until one of them casually asked
“Who is the director of this job?” and the PM replied “Antar Laniyan”. The gathering suddenly became serious and focused as the veterans scrambled for their scripts. They know with Antar, you won’t mumble the lines (dialogues).
That was the respect the BIG ANTAR @antarthywill controlled as a director. He was a monumental image as a director. A giant in the field, no pun intended. He was our mentor, our hero.
@seunolaiyaofficial_ @blackmagicdirector and I had a lot of side talks about him. We talked about his blocking prowess. If there were a hundred people on set, Antar would block them conveniently. That among other things. That is the director we had to understudy to become directors today. He was our mentor, our hero.
It is always an honour (these days) to have him on my set as an actor. BIG ANTAR is a great inspiration always and I’m using this opportunity to say a VERY BIG thank you sir for teaching and inspiring us.”
Other renowned filmmakers also attested to this fact in the comments section of the post praising the veteran actor who has been active as far back as 1981.
Antar Laniyan has been credited for a lot of epics in the Nollywood industry popular among them is the Wale Adenuga Production soap operas like Super Story, This Life and Oh Father Oh Daughter.
