“Love, Lust and Other Things” focuses on a recently divorced woman who goes on a journey of self-discovery to find out what she really wants between love, sex, and money. The movie attempts to explore the complexities of being married, then single and then trying to balance your emotions between love, desire, and a relationship. However, despite its promising premise, the movie falls short in delivering a satisfying and cohesive narrative, leaving us confused and too irritated to stay till the end!
The film follows a group of interconnected individuals whose lives intersect in a series of romantic entanglements. It aims to delve into the depths of love, lust, and the intricacies of human connections. Unfortunately, the execution of the storyline lacks depth and fails to engage the audience on a profound level.
One of the major issues with “Love, Lust and Other Things” lies in its weak character development. The characters feel underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth to make their emotions and actions truly resonate with its viewers. The other thing is the story as there is so much characters can do if the story just doesn’t add up. The film suffers from a disjointed and convoluted plot structure. The narrative jumps between different storylines and characters without providing sufficient context or establishing strong connections. This disjointed approach made it difficult to follow the overarching plot and hampered one’s ability to empathize or connect with the point of the movie.
Visually, “Love, Lust and Other Things” offers little to captivate the audience. The cinematography and production design are functional but do nothing to elevate the storytelling or add a distinct visual flair. The lack of creative visual elements contributes to the overall underwhelming nature of the film.
Despite its many flaws, the movie does have a few redeeming qualities. Some of the performances by cast such as Anita Asuoha aka Real Warri Pickin (although I tire for that girlfriend/conscience type character), Ramsey Nouah as Alhaji Khalid Shettima (who felt like a mechanical northern) are noteworthy. These brief glimpses of compelling acting provide a fleeting sense of engagement within an otherwise lackluster film.
In conclusion, if you’re seeking a movie that delves into the complexities of love and desire, it’s advisable to look elsewhere for a more cohesive and satisfying exploration of the subject matter as “Love, Lust and Other Things” falls short of its potential to deliver a thought-provoking exploration of human relationships.
