What defines a good performance to you? There are actors that appear on screen and make us appreciate the art better. They understand their craft and they work it to your admiration. Some of the best performances are those we remember even years after. We can easily relate the actor to the film because we remember how the actors made us feel, how they made us think, how they made us cry or laugh.

Here are some of the best performances we have seen in recent time, please note our list constitutes of jobs done from 2010 till date. There were a lot of good actors in the early 2000’s if we should make a list of that, the list will never end.

Bimbo Akintola as Ameyo Adadevoh in “93 Days”:

Steve Gukas cast the perfect woman to portray the Nigerian Heroine, Ameyo Adadevoh. Bimbo Akintola gives a layered performance in the 2016 film. We won’t forget in a hurry.

Omotola Jalade as Anya in “Ije”: Omotola proves that she is a veteran as Anya in ‘Ije.” The 2011 film was popular for many reasons but mostly for the good writing and the incredible performance by Omotola Jalade.

Sadiq Daba as Danladi Waziri in October 1: October 1 is memorable because of Sadiq Daba, he plays the reserved and brave Danladi Waziri in the 2015 production. He is calculative as a performer; the performance is one we will not forget in a hurry.

Richard Mofe Damijo as Gunpowder in “Oloibiri”:

We were expecting he will take the AMVCA for his heart shattering performance in “Oloibiri” but he didn’t. RMD gives a memorable performance in the 2016 film and it is different from anything we have seen him in.

Rita Dominic as Clara in The Meeting:

Clara Ikemba made “The Meeting” what it is. Rita Dominic was totally unexpected, we were not expecting her in such a role but she performs with reserved humor and we love the meeting because of Clara.

Femi Jacobs as Adigun in Taxi Driver:

Femi Jacobs launched himself in the industry with something special. Performance after performance we appreciate the actor for his wit and understanding of the craft but in “Taxi Driver” he takes it to a whole new level and we remember him as Adigun mostly, and before any other character he has played on screen.

Gideon Okeke as Kim Dakim in A Place in the Stars:

Steve Gukas in collaboration with Gideon Okeke give us a fantastic film that is well promoted for its ability to pack good actors. We appreciate the acting in this film. The film was released in 2014.

Ramsey Noah as Pius in Thy will be Done:

How would you react if you were a pastor and remarried after the death of your wife but years later she re-appears? Ramsey Noah shows us how best to react to the situation in a wonderful performance as Pius in “Thy Will be Done. The film was released in 2015.

Nse Ikpe Etim as Susan Abbah Mr and Mrs:

She was subservient and then she found strength and demanded her place as a woman and a wife in her home, that was Susan Abah in Mr and Mrs. The 2012 film featured Joseph Benjamin as her husband and we remember it because of their good chemistry and because line after line, action after action, Nse was purely fantastic.

Yvonne Okoro as Rebecca in Rebecca: Yvonne Okoro makes a splash in this 2016 film directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso. Her performance is calm but exceptionally wonderful.

Nse Ikpe Etim almost made the list twice for her performance in “Devil in the Detail” but she has a spot and it represents the hard work of the fantastic actress.

There are also new faces doing really well in the industry, which actor and performance did we leave out of our list?
